Asclepias incarnata / Swamp Milkweed

$4.00

This milkweed species is tall and has lovely pink flowers but doesn’t spread by rhizomes like its cousin common milkweed. Not only does it support numerous insects and butterflies, but it is a host plant for monarch caterpillars - see the photo on the native plant nursery page! These plants can get attacked by aphids, so plant something in front of them to hide look of the buggy stems if you choose - it is best to leave the aphids to the predators rather than hosing them off in order to protect any monarch eggs or caterpillars that are also calling it home!

Sun Exposure: Sun, Partial Shade

Soil Moisture: Wet, Medium-Wet, Medium, Medium-Dry

Height: 3-4 ft
