Wild strawberries not only act as a tough groundcover, they also produce tiny, tasty berries that are a delight to harvest and snack on in the summer. The white flowers support many bees and other small insects and the fruit supports small mammals and birds. Spreading by runners (stolons), these strawberries can quickly fill in an empty space or be added to a lawn to introduce diversity - they can be walked on or mowed without issue.
