Panicum virgatum / Switch Grass

A clump forming grass that spreads rather quickly by seed and slowly by rhizomes - can overwhelm a small space but works well when grouped in a larger area. Bright green leaves turn yellow in the fall, seed heads persist over the winter, providing food and cover for birds. Host plant for the tawny-edge and Delaware skippers.

Soil Moisture: Medium-Wet, Medium, Medium-Dry, Dry
