Asarum canadense / Wild Ginger

With broad, heart-shaped leaves and a preference for dappled light or shady sites, Asarum canadense is a good replacement for non-native hostas that are frequently planted in similar conditions. Many insects are attracted to the burgundy coloured flower, which hangs near the ground and below the leaves. This is a fantastic plant to use as a groundcover in your garden or as a living mulch in between other plants.
