Anaphalis margaritacea / Pearly Everlasting
Grey-green, slightly woolly looking stems grow up to two to three feet tall and support the bright and cheery yellow and white flowers that bloom from early summer into fall. It is a host plant for the American lady and painted lady butterflies - you’ll see the leaves held together with a silky web that protects the caterpillar while it is maturing. While it might look like the plant is struggling, these species have evolved together, and the plant will bounce back nicely and produce flowers later in the season. It is also an important food source for many later season insects and migrating monarchs.
Sun Exposure: Sun, Partial Shade
Soil Moisture: Medium-Dry, Dry
Height: 2-3 feet
Bloom Time: June, July, August, September
Bloom Colour: Yellow and white
Available in 3” and 4” pots.
